Laffing Horse Crafts

Handcrafted goodness from the Ozarks

She was born on Wednesday, March 1, 2006. A pretty good day, I think.

She was 19.25 inches and 6 pounds 13.8 ounces.

Several hours after she was born, though, they noticed she was having trouble getting enough oxygen. She was flight-for-lifed to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. It was discovered that she had a herniated diaphragm. That is to say her diaphragm was torn and her ‘innards’ had shifted upwards causing her a lot of difficulty with breathing.

Thursday morning, they performed surgery and correct the problem.

The picture is of her while recuperating. At this point, my granddaughter, little Lydia Elyse Baca was only out of surgery for two days. She was still being assisted with a respirator and fed through a tube.

Now, she’s off her all the tubes and is breast feeding.

Thanks to everyone who sent their blessings and prayers and energy and good thoughts and lit candles and… thanks!

And thanks to the doctors and staff at Memorial Hospital. I told my daughter that although the circumstances were lousy, it was full-circle… she was born there almost 19 years ago.

Don't have a need for a broom, crochet hook or triloom, but you still appreciate what I'm doing here? How about buying me a cup of coffee?
