Laffing Horse Crafts

Handcrafted goodness from the Ozarks

…mother’s milk, of course.

Another two lambs (boy and girl) on the ground.

Still needing name suggestions…

What a day!

Don't have a need for a broom, crochet hook or triloom, but you still appreciate what I'm doing here? How about buying me a cup of coffee?

We have all our kids on the ground save two tiny Angora goats that are determined to hold on until the very end. Of course, that includes my granddaughter (who is doing well, aside from a case of the sniffles which could be brought on by the oxygen she still has to use when she sleeps) :-) Actually, my daughter thought the whole having her baby while we were kidding was pretty funny.

The last two kids to hit the ground were twins from Blueberry by Hans, our oldest Angora doe (only three) paired with our award winning buck. Oddly enough, although Hans has always given us black or white babies (which invariably shade to the same pewter as he is when they reach maturity – talk about strong genetics) this time we go a very pleasant surprise! The little girl (we haven’t named her yet.. it’s a ‘B’ year… any suggestions?) is a very pretty shade of red. I’ll post pics when I can.

With (almost) all the goats out of the way and healthy and happy, we turn our attention to our sheep. We have, since Friday, March 24, 3 lambs on the ground and bouncing about… one big ewe lamb on Friday, March 24… we named her Bianca. She’s very cute, but not quite pure Jacobs… some recessives must’ve snuck in somewhere. She mostly white with a cute little black eyepatch. I wanted to name her Buccaneer (because of the eyepatch), but I was thankfully overruled. This morning we had two more – a boy and a girl this time. They’re needing names, too and they are doing fine and are more Jacobs than Bianca! Again, I’ll get pics as soon as Jeanette gets back – she has the good camera :-(

Didn’t I mention that? She’s in Norman, OK at the Norman Medieval Faire. If you live there and read this it might not be to late to go and give her a visit. She’s off her cell phone today, so if you do see her, tell her Shawn says he misses her and loves her very much and that all is well on the home front.

We also have leaves on the trees and puddles on the ground and eggs in nests all over the place.

Oh, yeah, and the clock have all changed.

Happy Sprung!
