Laffing Horse Crafts

Handcrafted goodness from the Ozarks

I am amazed! When I started tying brooms, I thought “OK, so I’ll make a broom here and a broom there… big deal. I mean, there’s only, y’know, just so many kinds… right?”

WRONG!

I’m at 27 varieties of brooms and counting!

The latest include a string tied fantail and a flipped-wing (you’ll see what I mean). I’ve added another wedding broom and really improved on my kitchen broom. Well, here, see for yourself:

It would appear that I might not have been clear last time I posted about the business situation. Let’s see if I can fix that.

Common Threads was a business partnership between myself and Jeanette Larson, my dear darling better half. We, for employment reasons, had to disolve the partnership and the name. Laffing Horse is still alive and kicking (and whinnying and galloping and prancing… not racing, though)!

That also means that the Common Threads Fiber Arts and More store on ebay went bye-bye. However, there’s a new glowing presence on ebay. Can you guess? Did you guess Laffing Horse Crafts? If so, you guessed right!

Of course, there’s nothing there yet… I’m working on it… really…

Here’s how things are gonna go, I think… I hope…

See the new pages up top in the menu bar?

The Brooms page has moved from Other Items (Oh, and I added some of Jen’s stuff to the other items menu option ’cause I love her and she’s got some great stuff!) because I’m having fun making them… getting creative, too!

The Shop! page is new… and there’s nothing on it right now.

Here’s how I’m gonna set it up… let me know what you think…

I’m gonna put stock items – things I’ve already got right here, right now – on ebay under the Laffing Horse Crafts user name. I might not always have the item you want out there, though. So I’ll give you a list of upcoming products and ordering information for custom orders on the Shop! page.

How’s that sound?

Now, I started this out with a statement about clarity. Has this been any clearer? If not, let me know and, well, you know what they say…

If you can’t fricasee,
fry, fry a hen

Or something like that.

The stinging has subsided and the swelling is gone. Now it’s just the &*%#%^) occasional itch that tells me it’s healing. I have found a way to deal with the itch, though. I’ve got the brass bristled metal parts cleaning brush…

In fact, one of the reasons I am writing this post is to get that picture off the front page… gives me the willys!

Otherwise, I’ve been busy… anyone that knows me knows that this might be a slight exaggeration. But I can once again see the light at the end of the tunnel! Lessee, now… how about a to do list?

Why, I feel as though I might get to take a day off in December!

Wait… that light at the end of the tunnel… it seems to be getting closer… and what’s that noise?

Just my luck! Another freight train.

But that’s OK… y’know what they say about idle hands!

Y’know, if you want to get a hold of me, the best way is email. I do check that at least once every two days. I also respond to most every email that has a direct query in it, but it might take me a day or two to get around to responses longer than “yes” or “no.” Comments on the website I read, but don’t always respond to.

We’ve all heard that before, right?

Was it ever true?

For my money, no. And last night was no exception!

About one o’clock in the a and m, my delightfully drowsy subconscious felt something tickling my left leg.. shin, about midway betwixt foot and knee. Naturally, I moved my right foot over to brush it off.

$&^*(()Y%@%&$&(%)^&*!!!!!!!!!

I woke the entire house and had all the lights on in a flash as I felt something akin to a white-hot bowie knife slide into the sole of my foot. Once I could see straight, I found a 2-inch long yellow-jacket wasp next to the bed. We were both limping a bit as I had crushed a wing as I had frantically brushed at my flaming foot.

He is no longer with us.

However, I am not my usual dancing self today. No allergic reaction… don’t worry… but I find my right shoe a leetle smidge too tight to wear today. I’m off of my feet and soaking my foot. Looks like it got me twice about 1/16-inch apart.

This, of course, means that I will be backed up in my production schedule by a day or so… sorry.

If only it’d stung me about 3-feet north… then I’d me off my… ahem, erm, ah… my production schedule might go a bit faster if I couldn’t sit down.
