As you know, we’re without power and I’m writing quick while the generator runs. We run Gennie twice a day to keep the fridge cold and the freezer colder and to check email and ebay and such.
We go without power all day long and spend our time cutting wood – it really does warm you twice, once in the cutting and once in the burning! Reading books, tying brooms, crocheting, cleaning… kind of…
In the evening, we often watch a movie. The ‘early to bed and early to rise’ idea works, but it’s hard getting used to… a movie helps.
Last night it was ‘Nell‘.
Jeanette refuses to let me watch movies like ‘Alive‘ or ‘The Donner Party‘ when we’re living primitive.
It was a good choice. As I’m watching it, though, I wonder “Is Jodie Foster really splitting that wood?” Was she? That makes me wonder if William Shatner was really splitting logs in ‘Star Trek: Generations’.
What other movies feature wood chopping and splitting?
All of this has led me to think that I will never again own a home without wood heat. Gravity fed spring water’s nice, too.
Oh, yeah, and a generator!
Don't have a need for a broom, crochet hook or triloom, but you still appreciate what I'm doing here? How about buying me a cup of coffee?Popularity: 3% [?]
