Laffing Horse Crafts

Handcrafted goodness from the Ozarks

I’m thinking about re-vamping my website again. Not a redesign, this time, but a rethink.
I’m still selling products that people can’t see. That’s the problem with crafting items one at a time… mostly to order… and maintaining three additional shops (the one on ebay, one affiliated with the Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour, and the Ozark Folk Center). Those are just the shops I run somewhat directly. That’s not counting my products on display at the Arkansas State Capitol, Olivetree Gallery, Ritsy Rags (a quilting shop) and Arkansas State Park gift shops.
Here’s what I’m thinking… instead of static pages (oh, they’ll still exist, but they’ll be solely there to inform, not to sell, etc.) I’m gonna write a blog post for every item I sell and document and photograph every step I take. If an item gets done in a day, I’ll post the whole thing that day. If an item takes a week (as most of my larger TriLooms do), I’ll post a little bit every day. That way, you can not only see what you’re getting (if you’re buying), but you’ll also get a unique peak inside my chaotic creative process.
What do you think? Really… let me know…

Meanwhile, I’ve been remodeling my home broom studio, working on my Ozark Folk Center broom shop, working with Beau Anderson on his website, rubbing shoulders with Arkansas’s First Lady, Ginger Beebe (spent about an hour discussing crafts and demonstrating a broom… one of mine is now in her collection), been appointed vice-president of the Mountain View Area Artisan’s Council (that’s the group that sponsors the Artisans Market on the Square series of shows), began construction of John Perry’s and Judi Munn’s website (they’re the potters at the Ozark Folk Center), learning to use a sawmill from John North here in Meadowcreek, cutting Sassafras for broom handles and woodturning, and helping to remove downed trees from the devastating icestorm in January for turning and firewood and neighborliness, consulting on the making of soap (Hi Robin and Summer), learning a better way to keep my books  … and I’ve been cooking more.
Funny, but you’d think with the cooking I’d be gaining weight. I’m not, though… hmmm…

Don't have a need for a broom, crochet hook or triloom, but you still appreciate what I'm doing here? How about buying me a cup of coffee?
